Res. 36, calling for the establishment of a special Congressional committee to investigate the Benghazi attack and the Obama administration’s handling of it in the weeks that followed. It’s an opportunity for a comprehensive investigation that connects all the dots, and holds officials accountable.

I urge you to co-sponsor an important legislative initiative, H. Res. 36, that will enable Congress, at last, to establish the truth about the attacks in Benghazi that killed our ambassador and three other Americans on September 11, 2012. Congressman Frank Wolf has introduced a House resolution calling for the establishment of a special committee for this purpose. As my representative in Congress, I request that you will help Rep. Wolf get H. Res. 36 enacted. It is urgent that Congress put an end to the stonewalling and cover-up that has kept us from knowing what led to the fatal attack on American soil. Why did it occur and why was no effort made to help our countrymen in their hour of need? Seven hundred special operations warriors - who have put their lives on the line to protect and rescue American citizens - have written Congress urging support for this resolution. They are absolutely right to insist that we establish why there was no U.S. response during the attack in Benghazi. The hearing last week provided explosive new evidence of a fictitious cover-up story. Credible whistleblowers present at the scene of this deadly attack have broken their silence. It is imperative Congress take responsibility and follow through with this investigation to determine the actual facts regarding this serious lapse in Embassy security. There must be a change in American Middle East policy to prevent another tragedy like Benghazi. Establishment of a Congressional Committee is urgent. Please co-sponsor H. Res. 36 today.
