Dr. Yitschak Ben-GadFormer Consul General of Israel to the Midwest, USA
Yitschak Ben-Gad was born in Tripoli, Libya in 1941 and resides in Netanya, Israel.
Ben-Gad served as Consul General of Israel to the Midwest, USA until August 1992 and was in charge of eleven states.
He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Dropsie University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in May 1975. His expertise is on the Middle East in general and the Palestinian Arab National Movement in particular. Ben-Gad speaks and writes in four languages: Hebrew, English, classical Arabic and Italian.
Ben-Gad was the only Consul General to publish a book in English in America to fight Arab propaganda: "POLITICS, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE: 3000 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON THE MIDDLE EAST CRISIS". The book was sold in America, Europe and Israel.
Ben-Gad was with the first Israeli delegation to the peace talks in Cairo, Egypt in December 1977 as pool-reporter for 70 American and Canadian Jewish papers and an Israeli daily.
Ben-Gad served as Deputy Mayor of Netanya, Israel in charge of "Project Renewal". Under his direction, the neighborhoods won the Project Renewal Award for Excellence in Israel. Ben-Gad was in charge of over 70 workers on the project.
He was a lecturer in Tel Aviv University and gives commentary and political analysis on radio and television.
Ben-Gad is the recipient of the 1975 Boris Smolar Award for Excellence in North American Journalism. He has written hundreds of articles in Hebrew and English.
Prior to his appointment as Consul General, Ben-Gad had hundreds of lectures and appearances across America. As a result, he as excellent connections with Jewish leaders in numerous states as well as with key American political figures.
Ben-Gad is executive director of HOLY LAND ENTERPRISES, Ltd. The company deals with real estate and investments and the offices are located in Netanya, Israel.
Ben-Gad is the son of the late Gad Machluf, Chief Rabbi of the Libyan Jewish Community in the years 1950-1953.
He is married to an American, Judith Ann Ben-Gad (ne: Cohen) and they have four children.
